Islamic Cairo is a walking city: Fatimid gates, Mamluk complexes, and streets that do not suit a 50-seat coach. A private day means a car to the edge of the district and a guide who can choose the shade. You are not dropped at a perfume shop “for ten minutes” that becomes forty.
A typical route is the Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali if you want the view, then a Mamluk complex with real stonework — Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifa‘i, or a quieter alternative if those courts are packed — and only then the approach to Khan el-Khalili. The bazaar is optional. If you want a goldsmith or a tailor, we go to that shop. We do not take commission stops.
Dress is straightforward: covered shoulders, a scarf for mosque courtyards, shoes you can slip off. Friday noon changes the rhythm around major mosques. We plan around it.
The company page for this ground is Cairo and Giza. Tell us whether you want monuments, food, or both on Plan my tour.
