The Grand Egyptian Museum sits on the Giza side of Cairo, facing the plateau. It is not a walk-in on a busy day. Entry is timed, bags are screened, and the building is large enough to waste two hours if you try to “see everything.” A private visit is a route, not a sweep.
We book the slot that matches your flight or your pyramid morning, then start with the piece you named: Tutankhamun’s assemblage, the Ramesses colossus in the atrium, or the Old Kingdom galleries. The guide stays with your party. There is no added group at the door. Photography rules change by gallery; the guide tells you before you lift a phone.
Most guests do the museum in three hours and still have a plateau visit or a slow lunch. Doing both GEM and the pyramids in one day is realistic from central Cairo if you start early and skip the papyrus shops. We do not insert shopping.
